We wanted to tackle the safety and reliability issues that Carousell users face and make secondhand shopping platforms more authentic and secure

Carousell Group is a leading online platform for secondhand items in Greater Southeast Asia. It aims to promote selling and buying secondhand items and offers free listings. Users can save time and money by posting photos and descriptions of their second handed or unused items. In recent years, online marketplaces such as Carousell have become increasingly popular in Hong Kong.

This case study explains our process of creating a UX case study for Carousell-Hong Kong.

Problem Statement

Concerns about online transaction safety and reliability have led to consumer hesitancy and a decline in trust

Concerns about online transaction safety and reliability have led to consumer hesitancy and a decline in trust

Concerns about the safety and reliability of online transactions have made consumers hesitant. Instances of fraud have eroded trust in online platforms, leading people to be cautious about conducting financial transactions online. To rebuild trust and encourage more participation, platforms and service providers must address these concerns.

Solution

Enhancing Carousell: Boosting reliability, preventing fraud, and elevating user experience for buyers

Enhancing Carousell: Boosting reliability, preventing fraud, and elevating user experience for buyers

Verification

To enhance reliability and safety on Carousell, we will introduce verification measures to indicate the level of verification done by users. This will give users a clear idea of transaction security on

the platform.

Trading Method

To improve fraud prevention, we recommend that Carousell

inform buyers about sellers who have a track record of selling misleading items.

Scam

We suggest including a new user icon to help users identify potential fake or bot accounts that are created with the intention

of scamming others.

Feedback / Rating System / Records

To improve the user experience when buying luxury products,

we suggest adding a rating filter and ranking system.
